Happy Birthday Puppies

Wow, this year has gone so fast. We really can't call Alfie a puppy any more, so hopefully he'll start to calm down and act like a grown up dog! He seems to have been on a total high today as if he knew it was his special day. They've had new toys and a lovely walk in the woods this morning but he hasn't settled all day as if he didn't want to miss anything. It might give them some rice pudding later as a special treat.
The most amazing thing is the rate of growth of the puppies. We have worked out that Alfie is now 100 times his birth weight, and probably still growing. I'll try and get some photos of Alfie over the weekend, but thought I'd go all nostalgic and put some newborn photos on the blog.
Happy Birthday Jake, Busby, Dillon, Hugo, Bergan, Molly, Millie and Tilly too

We are family....

We have finally managed to meet up with one of the puppies...
Alfie and Molly were reunited with their brother/son Hugo. He isn't as big as Alfie - not many labs are really - but he has an unusual talent for diving. He literally disappears underwater (regardless of the temperature) to pick up sticks and stones. Molly has a water obsession but that doesn't go as far as diving. Apparently he has been known to go diving in the sea and take some time to resurface!
I'm not sure if they all realised they were related, but there was a manic few minutes of bitey-face!
The two brothers are having biscuits from Anna (Molly looking on) in one photo and Alfie and Hugo are playing with a rather large stick in the other one (Alfie on left, Hugo on the right).

He is a lovely dog and is totally adored by the family he lives with :-)

Winter Wonderland

These are some really typical Alfie poses. He's a really lazy laidback dog and prefers to wait for us to come to him and get the ball rather than bringing it back himself. He sometimes just lies down and waits for us....

He's not as ball obsessed as Molly and will actually bring the ball back to us. He loves the ice at the moment and is spending a lot of time removing it from the garden pond.

Happy Christmas

Happy first Christmas to Alfie and his eight brothers and sisters.
Alfie wasn't sure about opening presents but Molly showed him how to do it. They have new squeaky toys to annoy everyone.....
They've enjoyed the Christmas break as this meant more people around to play with as well as yummy gravy to add to their food.
This is a recent Alfie pose. He's quite a bit taller than Molly now!

The Labrador Sea

We're just back from a few days in New York: the plane flew over the Labrador sea and I had this vision of a sea full of yellow, black and chocolate labs. The dogs don't seem to be bothered by the cold weather, in fact they seem to enjoy standing on icy puddles until the ice cracks and then trying to eat the ice.

When Rooney met Molly

How can it possibly be a year since Molly met Rooney.....I must admit it was nothing like when Harry met Sally. No candlelit dinner: foreplay wasn't necessary!
Looking at the size of Alfie now, it is hard to imagine that the puppies were microscopic on this day last year.
Alfie unfortunately has been very poorly today had to spend the night at the vets to try and give him some fluids. He started with a stomach upset at the weekend and he hasn't eaten or drunk properly for 3 days. Hopefully he's now inproving as the reports are that he's causing havoc at the vets today. There seem to be a lot of dogs with stomach upsets and nearly every time we go to the vets there's a dog there with a similar condition, including a great dane and a guide dog this week.

All you need is love

Molly has been feeling a little poorly this week with a tummy upset, so she was allowed cuddles on the sofa. Alfie didn't want to miss out so cuddled up to his mum leaving very little space for anyone else! We'll soon be back to bitey-face hopefully.
